July 27, 2018 – President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed [aka Farmajo] is expected to pay a three-day visit to Eritrea starting 28 July, Eritrean Information Minister Yemane Gebremeskel tweeted.

“On the invitation of President Isaias Afewerki, the president of the Republic of Somalia, HE Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed, will pay a three-day visit to Eritrea. President Mohammed Abdullahi and his delegation are scheduled to arrive in Asmara tomorrow morning”, Yemane said on his Twitter account @hawelti.

A pro-government media house, Tesfa News, on its Twitter account @tesfanews said: “A new era of peace and friendship. The streets of Asmara are decorated with #Somalia flags. Now you know who is coming.”

The UN Security Council had imposed an arm embargo on both Eritrea and Somalia, which is going to be lifted in the near future.

Eritrea is hosting a second African leader in the month of July. On 8 July, it hosted Ethiopian PM Dr Abiy Ahmed and signed a five-point peace declaration.
