Somali website publishes Islamists` agreement to unite with Al-Qaidah
Tuesday, February 02, 2010

Members of the hardline al Shabaab Islamist rebel group parade through the streets of Somalia`s capital Mogadishu, January 1, 2010.

A Somali website has published a statement of the agreement reached by two of Somalia`s Islamist movements, Al-Shabab and Raas Kaambooni. The two groups agreed to unite and work with Al-Qaeda. The following is a text of the agreement as published by Somalia`s Somalimemo.com website on 1 February

Declaration

Subject: Agreement for unification

Factions that reached the agreement:

1- Al-Shabab Mujahidin Movement
2- Mujahidin of Raas Kaambooni

(The statement begins with Koranic verses from Surat As-Saff in Arabic, translated below)

1. Whatever is in the heavens and on earth, let it declare the Praises and Glory of Allah. for He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

2. O ye who believe! Why say ye that which ye do not?

3. Grievously odious is it in the sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not.

4. Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure.

(After the verses, a hadith (saying of Prophet Muhammad) in Arabic follows, translated below)

The prophet said, “I enjoin you five things which Allah instructed me to do:

To be in a group, to listen, to be obedient, to immigrate for the sake of Allah and to strive for the way of Allah.

Whoever abandons the group, even if it is by one inch, then he has strayed a way from the bond of Islam unless he repents.

Whoever advocates and calls for the pre-Islamic period, he will be among the corpses of hellfire.

Then a man asked, Oh prophet, even if he fasts and prays? The prophet answered “even if he fasts and prays.”

The terms of the agreement

According to the verses of the Koran and several hadiths that call on us, especially the Mujahidin, to unite, today Friday 13/02/1431 Hijriyyah (Islamic calendar), the two factions mentioned above have reached an agreement, with the following terms:

1- To unite the Mujahidin of the two factions.

2- To promote the unity of the Muslim people, specially the Mujahidin.

3- To undertake efforts aimed at establishing an Islamic state that will implement Shari`ah law.

4- To support the Muslim people, specially those facing abuse and humiliation in East (Africa) and the Horn of Africa, who are under the control of those who call themselves “Christians”, who are the minorities.

5- In order to restore the damaged dignity of Muslims, their political power, economic strength and military might, all Muslims in the region should be united and end the hostility among them created by colonial powers.

6- To prevent invasion by the international crusaders and the attacks they have carried out against our Muslim people, the Jihad in the Horn of Africa must be combined with the international Jihad led by the Al-Qaidah network and its Amir (leader) Shaykh Usamah bin-Ladin.

The signatories of the agreement from both sides of Kaambooni Mujahidin and Al-Shabab Mujahidin:

Shaykh Hasan Abdullahi (Turki)
Shaykh Mukhtar (Abu Zubayr)
Shaykh Muhammad Muhummed (Dulyadayn)
Shaykh Mukhtar Robow (Abu Mansur)
Shaykh Muhammad Ahmad (Abu Sa`ad)
Shaykh Fu`ad Muhammad Khalaf (Abu Abdirahman)
Shaykh Ibrahim Adam Ibrahim
Shaykh Abdirahman Ahmad Aden (Siro)
Shaykh Abdulkadir Abdullahi
Shaykh Abu Bakar Al-Zayli`

Somalia`s Al-Shabab militia reportedly recruiting Kenyan youth
Daily Nation
Tuesday,
January 26, 2010

Text of report by Galgalo Bocha headlined “Probe rebels` youth hiring, Kenya told” published by Kenyan newspaper Daily Nation on 26 January

Some Muslim leaders have asked the government to investigate claims that youth in Mombasa (Coast Province) are being recruited to join Al-Shabab, the Islamist group fighting the Somali government.

Sheikh Juma Ngao of the Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council told a press conference in Mombasa that scores of jobless youths were being recruited with promises of hefty payments.

He said a senior Muslim cleric was shuttling between Mombasa and Somalia conducting the recruitment. He asked the government to immediately start investigations before the country became a breeding ground for terrorists.

“We have watertight evidence, even my own brother-in-law has fallen victim to the Al-Shabab agent based in Mombasa with only one mission of enlisting our youths to fight the so-called holy war in that country,” he said.

He said some of the recruits had returned home after being disillusioned by the fight between Al-Shabab and the transitional federal government.

“We have some who have fought the battle and after sensing danger escaped and returned and vowed not to participate again in the war. But others are ready to go back,” he added.

Sheikh Ngao warned the government that it should not take his organization`s concern over the recruitment of the youth lightly, as Kenyans might be used by Al-Shabab to plot terror attacks on their country.

He called on fellow clerics to support the government in the fight against terrorism, adding that the country was yet to recover from the shock of the 1998 bombing in Nairobi.
